Illusions is a music video about unseen identities, club culture and self discovery. This project was part of my master's thesis research about the narrative usage of optical illsuions.

Illusions is a music video about unseen identities, club culture and self discovery. This project was part of my master's thesis research about the narrative usage of optical illsuions.

This animated short was made using the Estonian fashion designer, Tauri Västrik's masters graduate collection as the main inspiration. The animation was screened at Tallinn Fashion Week in autumn 2o2o as a narrative introduction to the presentation of the designer's collection. The short is designed using optical illusions to represent the ambiguity and fluidity of gender expression, the overarching topic of Tauri’s collection. The collection draws inspiration from underground club culture, which became the main narrative for the animation. This story is about a character discovering and exploring a secret underground queer club where they find their community. In this club, people express themselves freely and have a great time together.

The project was exhibited together with Tauri Västrik's collection at Kunstimaja, Tartu in 2o21.
